About Us

Liberty Media LLC operates the Liberty Independent Media Project, originally formed as a nonprofit to create and encourage the reporting of cultural, historical, and creative efforts in the form of video documentaries and stories for print and web, with a special emphasis on people overcoming adversity. Like many ventures operating during the pandemic, it struggled even as a nonprofit enterprise, and the board of directors finally concluded that it was not sustainable as a donation-supported operation. Instead of abandoning the project, it has been restructured as one of the undertakings of Liberty Media LLC.

The Liberty Project provides a forum for individuals with their own media projects and seeks out interesting people and events for our own coverage efforts. By broadening the newsgathering force with citizen-journalists and those with something to share, we hope to expand the definition of news to include people of all backgrounds and help to establish lost connections with the broad community of humanity.

Operating as Liberty Indy Media, Liberty Media LLC also produces the weekday News Café, a digest of news happening locally, statewide, nationwide, and around the world. Subscribers receive the posts in their email inboxes, with links to a special News Café website, and it is available on a special Substack app which offers the ability to listen to the newsletter and to participate in chat sessions. Those with a free subscription will receive the posts on Tuesdays through Fridays, and paid subscribers also receive a special Monday post that takes a more personal approach to the news and thoughts of the day. For a free or paid subscription, go to https://tpcaldwell.substack.com.

Liberty Indy Media also offers stories, photos, and videos to news organizations, allowing them to supplement the work of their own staff when the hiring of additional personnel is not feasible due to an uncertain economy. Contracting with Liberty Indy Media to handle writing and photo assignments or editorial services can save money, as staff personnel, in addition to salaries and benefits, will cost for non-productive time, vacation days, holidays, unemployment insurance, social security, sick leave, and other fringe benefits.

We endeavor to present fair and balanced accounts of news events and to seek out unusual and overlooked stories.
