I knew her as “Karen” because Louise Erdrich told me she hated her first name, but that is the name by which she became famous, and now she has won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for fiction with her critically acclaimed novel, The Night Watchman (Harper 2020). Me? I haven’t even completed my first novel.
